Speakers

Would you like to speak at TEDxMcGill? We are looking for all types of speakers: students, alumni, faculty, and professionals in or outside the Montreal and McGill community. Our policy for speaker selection is on the merit of the ideas they wish to share. If you have an idea that you are passionate about then tell us! Below are some pointers to help get you started.

Dream big

TEDxMcGill will have near 600 attendees this year and many more watching online. Your audience is ready and excited to hear you! What’s more, TEDx talks are eligible to appear on ted.com and be viewed by millions of people. Your idea is big enough for the whole world to hear.

Give depth

Go for something deep rather than something broad. This is not to say that your ideas can’t be universal. On the contrary, TED talks range from niche ideas to global ones. Explain the complicated and make it simple. TED audience are hungry to learn and understand, give them some food for thought and challenge them!

Be personal

Connect with emotions. Ideas thrive on the TED and TEDx stages because of the intimate relationship between the speaker and the audience. Give your audience a take-home action. TEDx speakers are also attendees, during breaks in the event you will have the opportunity to discuss your idea with the audience.

How to speak
