TEDxMcGill 2011

The theme: Redefining Reality

With TEDxMcGill we wish to give the audience an experience of participating in an inspiring and important part of human history. We wish to inspire the audience to go out and lead social change in their community.

Change is born through creative processes and Redefining Reality is a catchy phrase for a creative process.
When we redefine our reality, we usually experience 1) a phase of divergent, expanding thinking, actions and behaviours, 2) followed by a phase of connecting and re-combining our new thoughts, ideas, feelings etc., 3) and then we go through a phase of convergent thinking, evaluation and decision-making. It is a process that allows us to clarify our passions and turn these passions into actions.

The event has three sessions with five speakers in each session followed by a panel discussion. The three sessions reflect the three phases of redefining reality. If a story feels expanding, it belongs to the first session, and so forth. Every speaker will share a personal story and guide the audience a step of the way through the different phases of redefining reality.

We also plan to challenge one or two members of the audience to give a 4-minute reflection on each of the sessions, so that we truly create a collective, cohesive, community experience.

TEDxMcGill 2011 takes place in the Montreal community and is therefore in exchange with Montreal values and with Montreal opportunities. All speakers are reflections of Montreal and their stories are relevant for a Montreal audience.
